Kentucky Derby Headlines

I really wanted to build a quick turn visual piece that explores the evolution of the front page of the Courier Journal announcing the winner of the Derby through history. This page uses a scraper that I built to interface with Newspapers.com’s non-public API to programatically pull the front page from a list of specified dates. The mapping library Leaflet is used to allow for smooth panning and zooming of the image so that users could read the full page.
